About Us

Entering the world of child care with a 15 month old, we discovered how difficult it was to find openings at quality and reliable daycares. We decided this was a service much needed in Humboldt. Our dream is to create an environment in which we would happily place our own child - somewhere with passionate staff that will provide enrichment and instill core values in our little one with kindness and patience. 

George was previously a Youth Intervention Specialist, working at school sites as a mental health mentor. He is now teaching at Pitter Patter while pursuing a degree in Child Development.

Irisa is an Oncology Pharmacist, and works with a team to facilitate administration of chemotherapy to our community's cancer patients. She is now also pursing a degree in Child Development while subtituting as a teacher at Pitter Patter.

Sydney has always had a passion for working with children. She started with daycare experience as an enrichment teacher at Enrichment Planet, an assistant teacher at Teacher's Pet Preschool, and a lead teacher at Sonshine Place Preschool. Sydney then obtained her teaching credential just as she became pregnant, working as a substitute teacher at Pacific Union until her son was born. Attending playgroups regularly, she transitioned into a playgroup facilitator for the Arcata and Tiny Tot First 5 playgroups until she took on her role as the director of Pitter Patter Daycare since our beginnings in May 2025.

Sarah has been with us since our doors opened in May of 2025.  She studied Early Childhood Education at Humboldt State University and taught preschool many years ago, but left the field to have a career in pharmacy after having her children. After a decade in pharmacy, we are grateful she decided to return to her true passion of teaching with us.

Freya has been with our team since August 2025. She comes from a long line of teachers, growing up helping grade papers in her mom's classroom. At San Diego Safari Park, she worked with exotic animal rescuers who held visits with young children to teach about wildlife conservation. She later started studying at Cal Poly Humboldt, where she majors in Child Development while also working at Pitter Patter.

Levi joined our team in December 2025. He has his Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Science with an emphasis in Child Development. He has been teaching preschool since 2022, and before that, was an assistant in a middle school autism program. His favorite thing about teaching is getting to be silly and playful with his students!

Melina also joined our team in December 2025. She first discovered her passion for early childhood education while working at a summer camp at the age of 18. Since then, she has 4 years of daycare experience while earning her Early Childhood Education units, as well as experience as a Special Circumstance Instructional Aide, nanny, and home service provider for Autism Learning Partners.

Marissa has been with our team since June 2026. She has her Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education and has experience teaching with North Coast Children's Services, as a student teacher in a family child care program, as a childcare attendant with children from infancy to age seven, as a nanny, and as a one-on-one behavioral aide for children with autism.
